Colours - Rangi

Rangi in Swahili means colour.

Red

Rangi Nyekundu (Colour Red)

White

Rangi Nyeupe (Colour White)

Black

Rangi Nyeusi (Colour Black)

Other than red, white, and black, all other colours are described as the colour of a common object. So the following colours are described as “Rangi ya _________” which means “Colour of ________”.

Blue

Rangi ya buluu (Colour of buluu – a popular bleach that is blue in colour)

Sky Blue

Rangi ya samawati (Colour of the sky)

Green

Rangi ya kijani (Colour of a leaf)

Brown

Rangi ya kahawia (Colour of coffee)

Yellow

Rangi ya manjano (Colour of manjano – a yellow coloured flower)

Gray

Rangi ya kijivu (Colour of ash)

Pink

Rangi ya waridi (Pink Colour – colour of a rose)

Purple

Rangi ya zambarau (Colour of a fruit that is purple in colour, known as Jamun, Java plum, or Indian blackberry in English)

Orange

Rangi ya machungwa (Colour of oranges)

Gold

Rangi ya dhahabu (Colour of gold)

Silver
